In KEEP SACRIFICING OR THE WORLD IS GOING TO END! you play as the king of a vaguely Sumerian/Akkadian city state. Your primary responsibility is to perform annual sacrifices to appease the perpetually angry gods, who threaten to destroy the world if not satisfied. Every year, you receive updates from your advisors about your domain's state and have the chance to take actions such as hiring scribes, bartering, or engaging in diplomacy. Subsequently, you must confront an annual event, typically challenging, and train your cattle and priests to prepare for the sacrifice. At the year's end, if your cattle and priests are sufficiently intact, you'll make an adequate sacrifice and continue ruling. The game emphasizes that although you can delay the inevitable destruction, there is a single win condition requiring astute attention to celestial signs along with sacrifice.
